Range of Performance
Anesthetic Method
We take care of our patients even before surgery by performing a premedication in ward for our in-patients, or in the ambulance of the anesthetic department.
All modern methods of general and regional block anesthesia are available.
General anesthesia as a balanced method of anesthesia and TIVA (Total Intravenous Anesthesia), offers an ultra-short recovery phase with advantage for patient to be able to operate machinery soon after operative procedure.
Regional block anesthesia as spinal anesthesia, peridural anesthesia, plexus anesthesia of the arm (axillary, intrascalenary etc.) as well as plexus anesthesia of the leg (3 in 1 block, sciatic nerve block etc.).
We use pre-operative methods like haemodilution and autoretransfusion to avoid the use of donated blood.
8 operating rooms and several other medical treatment rooms outside the surgery (ambulatory operation rooms, endo-urology, endoscopy, radiology) are equipped with the most up to date technology.
In the postanesthetic recovery room (space for 7 beds) our patients are monitored and taken care of after surgery. High-risk patients are monitored at the ICU after surgery.
Intensive Care Therapy
In our interdisciplinary ICU (10 beds, 4 places for artificial respiration) our patients get the necessary treatment including high-tech medicine. Apart from our competent and well-trained nursing staff and regular religious welfare we offer our patients the utmost of loving care – not depending on visiting hours.
Pain Therapy - Interdisciplinary And In Cooperation With Attending Physician
This postoperative therapy starts in the postanesthetic recovery room and is continued by our team for acute pain treatment. The team is available 24/7 and pays regular visits to the patients.
This extensive offer includes patient-oriented systemic methods of infusions, PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) which means that the patient controlls the number of injections of analgesics, injected by a pump-controlled device.
Furthermore, we offer methods like regional block anesthesia by catheder like arm- or leg-plexus-blocks, catheder-peridural-anesthesia and ports, as well as peridural anesthesia in O.B.
Blood Transfusion And Blood Bank, Use Of Blood And Additional Products
… underlie strict quality controls carried out by the responsible anesthetic transfusionist.
Autohaemoambulance
To avoid the transfusion of donated blood the patient is offered the opportunity to donate his own blood for personal use two to four weeks in advance of his surgery.
Emergency Medicine
The team of anesthesists is available 24/7 during high-risk surgery and reanimation. Anesthesists, surgeons and internists are part of the interdisciplinary team on our clinicar/ambulance of the city of Bergisch Gladbach. Every second week the physicians of Marien-Krankenhaus are called to emergencies and provide the patients with medical assistance. Our physicians are on emergency stand-by duty every second week, 24 hours a day.
