Clinic for Internal Medicine

The Clinic for Internal Medicine under direction of Priv. Doz. Dr. Jürgen von Schönfeld, offers therapies for patients suffering from diseases of the entire internal spectrum.

Apart from the general internal treatment we focus on diagnostics and therapy of diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract and the liver, diabetes and its secondary diseases as well as on diseases of the cardiovascular system including pacemaker therapy.

In the field of gastro-enterology modern video-endoscopes and a high-performance ultrasonic device are at our disposal. Furthermore, we offer functional examinations, as for example an acidimetry of the oesophagus.

The treatment of the different forms of diabetes contains all kinds of therapy, including insulin- infusion- pump- therapy. In addition to this, several by the weekly trainings according to the guidelines of the Deutsche Diabetesgesellschaft (German Diabetes Society) are offered. The team of instructors consists of a diabetologist, a diabetes adviser, a nurse and two assistant dieticians.

As medical school and university hospital of the Universitätsklinik Köln we regularly carry out classes for further studies and participate in the education of medical students.
