Medication
If you need medication, please write down the exact name and dosage of your medication or bring your own for the first days in hospital.
All medication affecting blood clotting (coagulation), such as Marcumar, Aspirin, Plavix, ASS or Godamed, should no longer be taken at least 10 days before surgery. Please ask your family physician if you are not sure about your prescriptions.
Preoperative Examination
We ask our patients to show up at the agreed time for their preoperative examination. There is no need to come to your appointment with an empty stomach. Please bring your X-ray pictures and your admission to hospital from your physician and register at the reception department, which is located near the entrance hall.
After registering you will get to know your ward (4 or 6) on which a bed is reserved for you. The nursing staff will be already waiting for you to give you further information on the oncoming procedures.
These procedures include examinations important for your operation, e.g. ECG, X-ray, and blood-analysis, which will be performed in the course of the day. Furthermore, the ward physician and the anesthesist will inform you about your operation and surgical risks.
To shorten your waiting period you are welcome to spend the time in our Restaurant Marienberg. Please inform our nursing staff about your whereabouts.
Day of Admission
Please show up at the assigned ward at the time given by your ward physician. The nursing staff will show you to your room and give you all relevant information on the curriculum of the approaching day of your operation. For your stay in hospital you will need towels, washcloths and your toilet articles.
Checklist for patients with artificial hip- or knee joint
- Leisure wear or dressing gown
- Long shoehorn and, if at hand, crutches
- Solid shoes that support your feet or sneakers with Velcro fastening
- A small backpack
Visiting Hours
We rely on your visitors to pay their visits at reasonable times, therefore, we don't insist on strict visiting hours. At the latest as 8pm visitors should leave hospital. Please keep in mind that too many visitors or extended stays can be exhausting for fellow patients.
... and after surgery?
We want you to be aware of the possibility of an ambulatory or stationary rehab after your stay in hospital.
