Auxilliary Staff
Our 'Green Ladies' are a group of about 25 women who work honorary and belong to the auxilliary staff. They can be easily recognized by the green coats they wear.
5000 men and women in 178 groups work in different catholic hospitals, about the same number works for protestant hospitals.
The 'Green Ladies' of the auxilliary staff have a friendly word for everyone. We like to chat and we have a lot of time to listen to you.
We do the same things that friends and relatives would do. We visit in-patients, take them out for a walk or run errands for them. Furthermore, we offer our in-patients books from our mobile library.
Once a month we meet in the small cafeteria of MKH to talk about our experiences. Apart from that we can participate in additional seminars that are organized by the Caritas or ourselves.
Many former patients who have gotten to know the 'Green Ladies' during their time in hospital want to become a 'Green Lady' themselves. Others want to experience some humanity in a life full of consumption and pressure.
Our voluntary helpers come to hospital one or two times a week to visit patients. At the moment we have 18 helpers in Marien-Krankenhaus and 7 at Rehazentrum Reuterstrasse.
We have flexible working hours (morning and afternoon) and work in teams for 4-6 hours a week.
If you want to be part of our group you should meet the following requirements: sympathetic understanding, patience, the ability to listen, discretion, as well as a certain stability are among the most important presuppositions.
If you want to give us your active support and 3-5 hours of your time each week for this interesting work, please contact us:
