Your stay in hospital requires the handling of certain formalities. We need the card of your health insurance on which your insurance data is safed. This data underlies professional discretion and data protection, and is certainly treated confidentially.

Cigarettes and Alcohol

Due to fire regulations smoking is not permitted in any patients's rooms, lounges or in the entrance hall. Please take your fellow patients' health into consideration.

If you can't do without smoking, you have the possibility to smoke in the kiosk-cafeteria, in the garden or in front of the entrance hall. Please make sure that your visitors don't smoke inside Marien-Krankenhaus. Alcohol is strictly prohibited during your stay in hospital.

Food

Our kitchen staff prepares a variation of healthy and tasty meals that fit all standards of a healthy and full nourishment.

You can put together your breakfast and dinner from different components of your choice. For lunch we offer three different menues from which you can choose.

Your possibilities of choice are listed in detail in the menu in your hospital room. Our staff will gladly assist you in choosing the components of your meals.We hope that our menu that is brought up-to-date each week meets your taste.

To quench your thirst we offer mineral or still mineral water. Alternatively to our menu, we offer special diets like a reducing diet, a diabetic diet, a low-salt diet and a low-cholesterol diet. If your family physician has prescribed a special diet, please remember that self-sufficiency can impair your healing process.

For all questions concerning nourishment our assistant dieticians will gladly assist you.You can contact them by phone, the nurses or the physicians, or you can contact Elisabeth Niemand directly. You can find our nutritionists on the first ground floor opposite to the Social Service.

Consultation hours are Tuesday from 2:00pm Uhr - 3:30pm.

Hairdresser and medical chiropody

If you need a hairdresser or chiropodist during your stay in hospital you can contact your personal hairdresser or chiropodist or make an appointment with our in-hospital hairdresser or chiropodist. Please contact the nurse in charge.

Kiosk

The kiosk is situated in the foyer next to the main entrance and offers refreshments, news papers and magazines etc.

The kiosk is open daily from 8:30am to 5:30pm Uhr.

Library

Our hospital library offers entertaining, thrilling, informative or cheering books. Our library is taken care of by the "Green Ladies", who deliver books to borrow for free even to your bed every Tuesday from 9am to 12 am.

Lost Property

If you lose something during your stay in Marien-Krankenhaus please contact the patient administration. Maybe your missing item is already waiting there for you.

Mail

Incoming mail will be delivered by the nurses. Your own mail can be posted at the mailbox in the entrance hall, which is emptied daily at 8:30am and delivered to the post office in Bergisch Gladbach.

Next to the mailboxes are two public phones (coin telephone, 30 Cent).

Patient Rooms

For patients with a public health insurance (öffentlich Krankenkasse) we offer 3-bed rooms. Two rooms share a bathroom including toilet and shower.

Apart from your insurance benefit we offer single- and double rooms with own bathroom including toilet and shower. (Please remember that you have to pay extra charges if this is not included in your health insurance.)

Phone, Radio and TV

Every patient's room is equipped with a phone next to the bed, which serves as remote control for the TV at the same time.

To use your phone and/or TV you have to register for at the patient's administration. There you will get headphones to plug in next to your bed and to listen to the TV. You can certainly bring your own headphones if you wish to.

After a payment of e.g. 10 Euro at the ATM left from the admission desk and the deblock of your phone you can use your phone and watch TV.

You can call any number in the whole of Germany and you are available under your personal phone number. If you should be transfered to another room you will keep your personal phone number.

To liven up your stay in hospital we offer, apart from TV, several radio programs for free.

Valuables

You should only carry those items/things with you to hospital that you really need.Valuables like jewelry or a huge amount of money should be handed to relatives or the administration for deposit.
Though you get a lockable cupboard we can only be liable for items that you leave at the administration with a receipt for depositioning.

Visiting Hours

Visitors are very welcome in our hospital. We know that especially during a stay in hospital the contact to friends and family is very important. We rely on your visitors to show up at reasonable times, therefore we refrain from prescribing fixed visiting hours. Please remember that too many vititors can be exhausting for your room-mates.

The Intensive Care Unit is open daily from 3 pm to 7 pm for visitors. Additional visiting hours are possible after consultation. Please ask Pfleger Martin Mielzarek.
